The purpose of the Student Activities program at YUHSG is to create balanced co- curricular education.

At Yeshiva University High School for Girls, the educational process is not limited to the four walls of the classroom.  Rather, the learning process combines both formal and informal methods of teaching.  Students learn about the Holocaust in their fifth period Jewish History class and then are part of the multi-media program, "Names Not Numbers©."   Students learn about their historical roots in their Chumash class and then in their Junior year actually travel to Israel to take in the same geographical views as their ancestors.  AP Art students study great classical and modern works of art both in the art class and then on a trip to MOMA.

In addition, our Judaic classes combine textual learning with spiritual learning.  Our students delve into the intricacies found in Megillat Esther, and can dance sing and masquerade at a Purim chagigah.  Ninth graders learn the halachot of “bein adam l’chavero” and enjoy the company of their new friends at a Grade Luncheon.  Zionism and Israel are integral to our school’s identity and reverberate in the classroom and at the beautiful Yom Ha’Atzma’ut kumzitz.

Our School Wide Shabbaton is the ultimate example of our educational process, successfully combining all the many ingredients that make up student life here at Central.  In preparation for the Shabbaton, the seniors attend a leadership training seminar conducted by Eimatai, a division of Yeshiva University’s Center for the Jewish Future. The ideas and skills they acquire there enable them to make important contributions to the creative programming and the educational sessions.  In addition, the Shabbaton provides students and teachers with the opportunity to develop meaningful relationships in a relaxed environment filled with spirit and spirituality.
