| Student Life |
As the Director of Student Life, one of the many exciting aspects of my job is the opportunity to assist and guide each of the new students through the transition from middle school to high school. My office door is always open, welcoming the students to stop by, individually or with a group of friends, and discuss their new environment, teachers, classes, activities and social lives. My goal is to develop a relationship with each student and to provide support, encouragement, and a place for them to feel comfortable to discuss any topic, any time of day throughout their years here at Central. In addition, I am available to help students cultivate, improve and build upon their organizational skills, study skills, and relationships with their teachers and peers.
Here at Central we believe that having a positive perspective is of the utmost importance to success and happiness. We hope that through their years here, each of our students will learn to develop and master this very central outlook on life. One technique we are currently implementing to promote this positive attitude is the “SPRITE” program. SPRITE: Students Proactive Relationships with Individual Teachers Experience, is a program designed to help every girl develop a personal relationship with her teachers outside of the classroom setting. Each student is paired with a teacher who will serve as her individual “mentor.” The goal of this program is to enable each of our students to receive extra individual attention, support and encouragement throughout their high school years in an informal setting.
The students’ needs are of vital importance to the staff and administration here at Central. It is our hope that through this program, and other programs throughout the school year, each girl will feel the atmosphere of comfort and love that will enhance her high school experience and facilitate her development into a successful young adult.
