We at Yeshiva University High School for Girls strongly believe that an additional year of intense Judaic studies in Israel is an invaluable growth experience for our graduates. Not only does a young woman have the opportunity to grow spiritually, she also gains in maturity and self-definition. The “year abroad” has become almost a rite of passage before college. Needless to say deciding on the right seminary, Beit Medrash program or University experience can be fraught with anxiety. That is why we, Mrs. Sklar and I, are here to help guide you through the process. Over the past twelve years, we have developed strong bonds with the Roshei Yeshiva, Menahalot and administrators by visiting them in their “homes” as well as hosting them in ours. We hope that you will make an appointment to speak with either one of us at your earliest convenience so that we can share with you our impressions.
Ms. Michal Davis has been in direct contact with many of the Israel programs and has done an incredible job of collating and editing this booklet containing a plethora of information about the Israel programs. Ms. Davis has already begun scheduling “shiurim” and interview dates for the representatives to come and visit with us. We have tried to include as up-to-date information as possible and have garnered information from a wide variety of institutions. Inclusion in this booklet is not necessarily an endorsement of the program and there may be some programs that have not been included.
This year, at the request of the Israel school representatives, we will be co-hosting the Israel Fair with Stern College on the day of the Stern College Open House (November 15th). More details will be provided as we get closer to the date. We will also have a brief “Israel Night” on November 11th at 7:30 pm here at the school to further acquaint you with the application process, however, the Israel representatives will not be in attendance.
In the interim if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to speak with me, Mrs. Sklar or Ms. Davis.
L’Shana Haba B’Yerushalayim.
