Grade Eleven: The eleventh grade curriculum is a survey course of Jewish history from the Second Temple Period through the Middle Ages. Events and trends are examined in light of general world history, without losing sight of the unique circumstances and concerns of the Jewish community. Topics include the Hellenistic period and its cultural impact, the Hasmonean Revolt, the Roman-Herodian Age, the era of the The course aims to foster the students’ identification with, and understanding of, the Jewish people across the globe and throughout the ages. Grade Twelve: In the twelfth grade, students study aspects of modern Jewish history. Both College Equivalency level and regular sections of the course are offered. While both classes cover the same time period, the College Equivalency course offers advanced lectures, intensive analysis of documentary sources and supplementary readings. The College Equivalency curriculum prepares the students for the YU College Equivalency Modern Jewish History examination in the spring.
